Ludwig Albert, Belgium’s premier marimbist, is a pioneer of the marimba and among the best in the world. He is also internationally acclaimed as a devoted pedagogue. Albert is titular professor at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, and the Lemmens institute in Leuven, which offer Europe’s first official master marimba degree. Helping drive this program is the innovative Ludwig Albert Movement Method, designed to help students reach their ultimate sound and musicality. Until 2010 he appeared as a Yamaha artist, but is now an endorsing artist with the Adams Company, which produces the signature Ludwig Albert marimba. This was an honour presented for the first time to a European marimba virtuoso. Showered with several tittles, he has released 11 label albums with mainly his own compositions, improvisations and arrangements. Well known for his unique sound and his eight mallet technique, he is praised as an outstanding lyrical performer by international press reviews. Mr. Albert has performed concerts and clinics at prestigious festivals and universities worldwide. He is also artistic director and committee member of the Universal Marimba Competition, and several international marimba academies and festivals abroad. His signature mallet line is produced by Innovative percussion USA.
